Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, spoke at TED with the talk, “Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders.” Though it was presented in 2010, the topic is still very relevant today: we don’t have enough women rising as leaders. She discusses why this is so: women underestimate their abilities, leave the workforce early, and don’t “sit at the table” in their work environments. Check out the video (if you haven’t already), and listen to the reasons why we need more women show up and take leadership roles.
This discussion is one of the many reasons why we believe empowering women is so important. If we empower other women to believe in themselves and their abilities, great change will happen for both women and society as a whole.
